Easy Baked Tilapia Fillet Recipe

Today Recipes | Easy Baked Tilapia Fillet Recipe – My children loves eating fish at home. When we lived in California with all the current fresh fish options, we would eat fish twice weekly or more. Moving far from California the alternatives for fish are much less plentiful. Chances are that if you are reading this, you’ve limited options as well. Quality frozen fish is actually a great option. The trick is to use it the moment you are able to after thawing. Plenty of the fish you purchase from the fish counter at the supermarket is previously frozen and thawed there, so you might as well buy it frozen and thaw it yourself for maximum freshness.

This recipe uses Tilapia, which is an incredibly common and less costly white fish. It’s a great option to eat fish on a budget. You should use any white fish with this recipe though so feel absolve to experiment using what is available in your area. Enjoy!

Fish Cooking Tips

  • Cook fish to a temperature of 145° F or until the flesh is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  • If you aren’t serving the fish immediately, keep it warm in a 200° F oven or warming drawer.
  • For each serving of fish, allow 4 to 6 ounces per person.
  • Tilapia is small, but if you must divide a large fish fillet between two people, cut it lengthwise through the center seam, not crosswise.
  • If you’re baking a fish fillet with a thin tail, tuck it under so the fillet is fairly even in thickness.
  • To lessen the problem of fish flaking and falling apart, cook it in small individual au gratin baking dishes you can serve at the table.
